About The Event
About the band:
First formed in 2003 in Portland, Or. by guitarist David Stassens ,The Djangophiles have performed over 1500 shows all around the pacific NW.
Our primary influence in this ensemble is of course our namesake…the late great Belgian/French Gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt.
Django Reinhardt has astounded and thrilled numerous generations of guitar players and jazz aficionados with his stunning command of the guitar. Together with Stephane Grappelli they formed the famous “Hot club of France” in 1934 , and based on the virtuosic guitar styling’s of Django , a whole new style of Jazz was developed….called Le jazz hot . This music has an infectious driving rhythm and we incorporate many of the standard pop and jazz tunes of the 20′s ,30’s ,40’s , and 50’s as well as modern day compositions.
